Purpose and Description
There are usually a number of abstracts submitted for publication
through the DDD section from researchers doing basic scientific work in
the isolation, structure identification and biological activity of
constituents derived from natural sources. Many of these researchers
elect to attend the AAPS Annual Meeting from countries outside of the
United States to present their work.
The Natural Products Chemistry Focus Group, in partnership with the DDD
Section, would engage them and invite them to be recognized through
program planning at the AAPS Annual Meeting. Through section and focus
group business meetings and focus group leadership meetings, this focus
group would provide a forum for discussion among researchers engaged in
basic scientific work in natural products chemistry, and serve as an
outlet to connect with members of other sections and focus groups with
related interests in the field.
The Natural Products Chemistry Focus Group, in partnership with the DDD
Section, would invite and encourage the participation of graduate
students engaged in research in natural products chemistry in the US
and abroad to submit their work for presentation at the AAPS Annual
Meeting and other conferences sponsored in whole or in part by AAPS.
Members of the Natural Products Chemistry Focus Group would be invited
to submit their ideas in planning workshops, roundtables and other
events on the topic of natural products chemistry as they relate to the
interests of the DDD Section, other sections and other focus groups
within AAPS.
In addition to the publication of abstracts submitted by members of the
Natural Products Chemistry Focus Group and approved for presentation,
the Focus Group would contribute to special publications resulting from
the offering of special events sponsored in whole or in part with other
associations, agencies and societies (with their permission, when
required).
The Natural Products Chemistry Focus Group, in partnership with the DDD
Section, would engage the partnership of other associations, agencies
and societies, whose focus involves research in natural products
chemistry, in planning special events at various times throughout the
year at various locations in the US and abroad.
