  APQ COMMITTEE CHARTER AND MISSION STATEMENTS

Committeess

Committees shall consist of at least three members: the committee Chair, committee Vice Chair, and one or more Section members. The Chair and Vice Chair will be appointed from individuals ideally possessing 2 years of membership on said committee. The committee Vice Chair will become the committee Chair in the following year. Exception to the succession plan may be made with APQ EC approval. Committee Chairs and Vice Chairs must be primary members of the APQ Section. The Committee Chair proposes and selects members in consultation with the Section Chair. An effort should be made each year to replace some of the members. All Committees report to the Section Chair but should also be prepared to report at the annual meeting. The standing committees and their duties are described below. Additional committees may be created with APQ EC approval.

Program Committee

Charter:
The Charter of the APQ Program Committee is to participate in planning, organizing, and executing the scientific program for the AAPS Annual Meeting. The Programming Committee will consist of at least three members.

Mission:
The Program Committee provides ideas for programs (symposia, roundtables, sunrise schools, etc.) and formulates the final recommended program for the AAPS annual meeting. The Committee provides a liaison between the Section and the programming activities for the annual AAPS meeting and other conferences and workshops that involve the Section. The Committee is chaired by the Section Chair Elect and is responsible for the current year’s annual meeting and includes the APQ Vice Chair as a member. The APQ Vice Chair is responsible for the following year’s meeting programs. The committees formulate and submit proposals to the AAPS Annual Meeting Program Committee (AMPC) and are responsible for implementing accepted proposals.


Awards Committee

Charter:
The charter of the Awards Committee is that it shall consist of at least three members. The committee chair will be selected by the Chair of the APQ Section. It shall be the responsibility of the committee chair to select the remaining members. Names of potential committee members shall be actively sought at the annual AAPS meeting and from recommendations of APQ officers and other persons. The committee shall present to the APQ officers completed awards nominations applications for final approval.

Mission
The mission of the Awards Committee is to seek out nominees and select recipients for the various section awards. The awards presently consist of the AAPS Outstanding Manuscript Award in Analysis and Pharmaceutical Quality, AAPS Graduate Symposium in Analysis and Pharmaceutical Quality, AAPS-APQ Research Achievement Awards and the AAPS Fellow. Other awards that may be considered by the APQ section will be the responsibility of this committee.


Nomination Committee

Charter:
The charter of the Nominations Committee is to identify suitably qualified candidates for the elected office of Secretary/Treasurer of the section.

Mission:
The mission of the Nominations Committee is to identify two candidates for the elected office of Secretary/Treasurer. The Nominations Committee is chaired by the Section Chair and includes the Past Chair and other members active in the Section.


Short Course Committee

Charter:
The charter of the Short Course Committee is served by a chairperson and at least two committee members. The Short Course Committee is responsible for identifying ideas and potential speakers for short courses to be presented during the annual AAPS meeting. The Chair of the Short Course Committee will also serve as a member of the APQ Program Committee. The Short Course Committee will report directly to the APQ Annual Meeting Chair (APQ Vice-Chair). The Short Course Committee is also expected to present a report to the Section Chair concerning upcoming short courses, and negotiations for primary speakers for these courses.

Mission:
The mission of the Short Course Committee is to support the AAPS and APQ by providing stimulating and informative short courses aimed specifically at the practicing pharmaceutical scientist. This committee will attempt to focus attention on emerging technologies and techniques that have applications in the pharmaceutical industry by inviting leaders in the fields to teach a one- to two-day short course. These short courses will be presented during the AAPS annual meeting. The committee coordinates and implements any approved short course programs. The Committee Chair will prepare a written proposal for short course (s) for submission to the AAPS Short Course Committee and APQ EC.


Workshop Committee

Charter:
The Workshop Committee maintains an awareness of ongoing proposals for APQ sponsored/cosponsored workshops and provides assistance to workshop organizers as needed. In the event that no APQ sponsored/cosponsored workshops are proposed in a given year, the committee will provide and/or solicit ideas and identify an appropriate champion to lead the development of a workshop.

The charter of the Workshop Committee is served by a chairperson and at least two committee members. The Workshop Committee is responsible for identifying and reviewing programming for AAPS-APQ workshops. The Workshop Committee Chair will report directly to the Section Chair. The Workshop Committee Chair is also expected to present a report to the Section Chair concerning upcoming workshops and negotiations for primary speakers associated with the workshop.

The mission of the Workshop Committee is to support the AAPS and APQ by providing stimulating and informative workshops aimed specifically at the practicing pharmaceutical scientist. This committee will attempt to focus attention on emerging technologies and techniques that have applications in the pharmaceutical industry by inviting leaders in the fields to teach in a single or multiple day workshop.


Fellows Committee

Charter:
The charter of the Fellows Committee is to present qualified candidates for nomination to fellow status. An APQ Fellow, who also represents the Section on the AAPS Fellows Committee, chairs the section committee. The APQ Past Chair will also be a member of the committee.

Mission:
The Fellows Committee seeks out nominees for Fellow status and ensures that APQ candidates are properly presented to the AAPS Fellows Committee. The mission is to identify and aide in the preparation of the required documentation for candidates from the section for presentation to the AAPS Fellows Committee. The Committee should be proactive in seeking out qualified candidates.


Education Committee

Charter:
The charter of the Education Committee is to stimulate interest in the field of pharmaceutical analysis. The Education Committee acts as a liaison for the APQ Section to professional and graduate student education programs. The committee is responsible for fostering relations between the Section and educational programs related to the advancement of the pharmaceutical sciences.

Mission:
The mission of the Education Committee is to stimulate interest in the field of pharmaceutical analysis through an increased awareness of career opportunities in the field and to attract students to graduate programs concerned with pharmaceutical analysis. A second part of the mission is concerned with recognizing achievements of students currently enrolled in graduate programs and facilitating the continued education of APQ members who currently employed in industry, academia or government agencies.


APQ Executive Committee

Charter:
The charter of the APQ Executive Committee is to act as advisor to the Chair and review Section activities.

Mission:
The mission of the APQ Executive Committee is to formulate and develop a strategic plan that is compatible with the goals and objectives of the AAPS.


APQ Paper Screening Committee

Charter:
The charter of the APQ Paper Screening Committee is to be responsible for the criteria and evaluation of original submissions for presentation at the annual meeting. The Paper Screening Committee Chair will select members and assign abstracts for review. The Paper Screening Committee will review and decide abstract acceptances and conduct the abstracts appeal process.

Mission:
The mission of the APQ Paper Screening Committee is responsible for maintaining the quality and consistency of original submissions for the annual meeting. The APQ Paper Screening Committee will review and evaluate original submissions for the annual meeting. Acceptance of the abstract for presentation will be based on the concise and accurate presentation of new data.
